We Are Ready to Be #TogetherAgain!

While we missed you the past few months, we are excited to be #TogetherAgain! The Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds is now open again!

At this time, we are now accepting appointments to book a special event or public event. Our main office will be open to the public for walk-ins beginning Monday, June 15, 2020. Appointments or walk-ins for booking an event are allowed at a limit of 3 people. Face masks are encouraged for your safety. For bookings call us at 361-387-9000.

As you are aware, Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, Spectra, and Nueces County are closely monitoring developments and updates from government health officials surrounding the COVID-19 virus. Our primary focus continues to be the safety, health, and well-being of our employees and community members. These are very difficult times for all of us and given the dynamic situation, we are continually adjusting and adapting to this rapidly changing situation.

In order for a smooth transition to our new policies and procedures, when attending one of our upcoming events please follow our new guidelines when visiting the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds. Please view below for our new guidelines and procedures. 



All policies are subject to change in accordance with state and local guidelines.

In accordance with state and local guidelines, all indoor events in our facilities are limited to 50% of the facility's total listed occupancy. Employees and contractors of the wedding reception venue are not counted towards the 50% occupancy limitation. 

Face Mask:

  • NOW, THEREFORE, UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 418.108, NUECES COUNTY JUDGE ORDERS: Effective June 26, 2020 (midnight) and continuing until July 10, 2020 unless extended, modified, amended, rescinded or superseded by the County Judge: Facial Covering Required. Each person ten (10) years of age or older shall wear a face covering over his/her nose and mouth when inside a county or city owned or operated facility within the boundaries of Nueces County (a “Governmental Facility”) – unless each person is able to maintain at least six (6) feet of separation from all other members of the public and co-workers (excepting family members) while inside such Governmental Facility.   • Face Masks: In case a client/guest does not bring a face mask when arriving at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, face masks will be sold at $1/per mask.
The following are the health protocols the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds is implementing for attendees when visiting or attending an event at the facilities.



  • Parties should maintain at least 6 feet distance apart from other parties at all times, including while waiting to be seated at the reception.
  • 6 feet of social distancing between individuals not within the same household on entering and exiting the venue.
  • Seating at tables will be no more than 6 people. (Subject to change in accordance with state and local guidelines.)
  • Items such as condiments, silverware, flatware, glassware, or other traditional tabletop items, will no longer be left on unoccupied tables.
  • Condiments and other single-use items will be provided to guests upon request.
  • If a buffet is offered, venue employees and/or contractors will serve the food to attendees.
  • Beverages will be covered with a plastic cover and will be served and refilled by waiters.
  • Hand sanitizing area(s) will be available at all events.



  • 6 feet of separation between individuals not within the same household should be maintained to the extent feasible.
  • 6 feet of social distancing between individuals not within the same household on entering and exiting the venue.
  • Seating to events will be adjusted accordingly to maintain 6 feet social distancing.
  • For concession stand lines and/or bar stands, recommended social distancing floor stickers will be placed within facilities to maintain 6 feet social distancing.
  • Items such as condiments, silverware, or other concession food items, will no longer be left on unoccupied tables.
  • Condiments and other single-use items will be provided to attendees upon request.
  • Hand sanitizing area(s) will be available at all events.



  • All employees will need to pass a health pre-screen before their shift.
  • All employees will have completed a safe food handling training.
  • All employees are required to wear a face mask.
  • We are sanitizing each table and chairs immediately after use.
  • We are sanitizing common areas/customer touchpoints regularly.
  • We are enforcing the current social distancing guidelines.
  • We are documenting our processes and will be happy to share our records upon request.
  • We take your health, and our team's health, seriously. If you ever feel like we are not living up to this pledge or if you feel uncomfortable in our facilities at any time, please do not hesitate to bring your concerns to management.
  • For every other restroom stall and sink it will be closed and taped with red tape.
  • Restroom attendant for each restroom.
  • Cleaning log will be used for restrooms.


COVID-19 ALERT: We have taken enhanced health and safety measures to protect our venue guests. However, there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the CDC, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By entering the venue, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19, and Venue disclaims any and all liability related thereto.

In accordance with the guidance and recommendations set forth by the CDC and local health officials, we respectfully request that the following guests not attend tonight’s event:

  • Guests who are feeling sick or experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms (including fever, cough and shortness of breath);
  • Guests who have been diagnosed with, or believe to have contracted, COVID-19, unless you have had no fever for 72 hours (without use of medicine) and 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared;
  • Guests who have been in contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days; and
  • Guests who have traveled internationally in the past 14 days.

  • Postponed/Suspended - Event has been, or will be, rescheduled to a future date.
  • Cancelled - Event has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

  • Albert Leal Boxing has been postponed to new date August 1, 2020. 



  • Junior Olympics 2020 on May 1-3, 2020 has been postponed to APRIL 16-18, 2021
