Cagefighting coming to The Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown May 17

Global Spectrum, managers of the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, announced the signing of the first mixed martial arts event to be held at the Fairgrounds. The Awakening, professional mixed martial arts combat in a cage, is set for Saturday, May 17, 7:30 p.m., at the Fairgrounds’ Central Pavilion Arena. “We’ve been working to find the right promoter to do our first MMA event, and we have a winner Katana Cage Fighting,” said Kelvin Moore, fairgrounds general manager for Global Spectrum.

Ten bouts of vicious cage demolition are headlined by Hector "H-Train" Munoz. Munoz holds many championship belts including the FightFest title, World Fighting Organization title and the Texas International Fight Festival title. Chad Dittman, part owner of Katana Cage Fighting said, "It’s going to be an action packed night of entertainment."

Along with Munoz will be the debut of Willie Munoz (Hector's brother), Danny Perez and Adam Ibarra. Also debuting will be Mark Neely, Pete Garcia and Richard Nunez along with local bad boys, John Alvarez, Phillip Greathouse and Ryan Durbin.
